Professor Linda McClain introduces chapters 53-66 of Phineas Redux.
Linda McClain is the Robert Kent Professor of Law at Boston University. She writes and teaches in the areas of family law and gender and law and is the author of several books, most recently Who’s the Bigot? Learning from Conflicts over Marriage and Civil Rights Law (Oxford University Press, 2020). Her first introduction to Trollope was The Warden. She has published an article about “the woman question” in the Palliser novels and (with Allison Tait) about the various forms of nonmarital households in Trollope’s novels.
Phineas Redux was first published in book format by London, Chapman and Hall, December 1873. 2 vols. Originally published in The Graphic, July 19, 1873 – January 10, 1874.
