From 15th June to 13th July 2026 join Trollope enthusiasts from across the world every second Monday to discuss The Belton Estate as we read it together on Zoom.

The Belton Estate follows Clara Amedroz, a young woman from a fading landed family who faces limited choices after her brother’s death. The estate passes to a distant cousin, Will Belton, who arrives intending to do his duty towards Clara and her father. Clara must weigh a future with Will, marked by steadiness and genuine goodwill, against her more ambiguous attachment to the polished but unreliable Captain Aylmer. Trollope sets Clara’s emotional journey against the decline of old estates and the pressures placed on women whose security depends on marriage and inheritance.
