Alliance of Literary Societies ~ Christmas Cracker 2

The Alliance of Literary Societies is the umbrella organisation for literary societies and groups in the UK. On Wednesday 18th December the ALS is inviting all member organisations, including the Trollope Society, to join a Zoom Christmas Cracker to celebrate Christmas and our shared love of literature.

Join the Alliance of Literary Societies on Zoom to explore a festive question: “What Christmas present would you give your author, and why?”

Whether it’s a thoughtful gift inspired by your author’s quirks or something you know they’d love, this is your chance to get creative and celebrate Christmas in a literary way. Hear from fellow members, enjoy lively conversation, and discover surprising insights into the lives and personalities of beloved authors.

We would like as many people as possible to speak during our one-hour, 30-minute event. If you would like a speaking slot of up to three minutes, please let us know when you register. Bring your imagination and seasonal cheer as we unwrap the perfect Christmas presents for our favourite literary figures!

Christmas gifts for Anthony Trollope

If you’re shopping for Anthony Trollope, consider gifts that reflect his passion for storytelling and his reputation as one of the busiest authors of his era:

  • A Travel Journal: Trollope was known for writing on the go, often during long train rides. A classic leather-bound journal would allow him to jot down ideas and observations as he traveled.
  • An Espresso Machine: For a man who maintained a strict daily writing schedule before his workday at the post office, an espresso machine would keep his writing fueled in modern comfort.
  • A Fountain Pen: Trollope’s work ethic included strict writing habits; a fountain pen would help him achieve his goal of 250 words every fifteen minutes.

Join us for a unique evening of bookish fun, as we imagine what these literary greats might unwrap on Christmas morning!
