Prong, The Rev. Samuel

The vicar of a district in Baslehurst, of the sanctimonious type so often satirized by Trollope. He aspired to the hand of Mrs. Prime, but a difference of opinion on the settlement of her property prevented the match .

"...a little man, over thirty, with scanty, light-brown hair, with a small, rather upturned nose, with eyes by no means deficient in light and expression, but with a mean mouth. His forehead was good, and had it not been for his mouth his face would have been expressive of intellect and of some firmness. . . He was deficient in one vital qualification - he was not a gentleman" - Rachel Ray
