Houghton, Mrs. Adelaide (de Baron)

The worldly and flirtatious daughter of a distant relative of the Germain family, loved by Lord George Germain. She refused to marry him, and took Jeffrey Houghton “for an income.” After George’s marriage to Mary Lovelace, she succeeded in bedeviling him into a series of most embarrassing situations that he was too weak to avoid, but too loyal to Mary to enjoy.
