Goshawk, Mr

A magistrate in Silverbridge who was managing director of the school of which Mr. Crawley was the headmaster. At his wife’s instigation he decided that Mr. Crawley was not fit to teach the children and attempted to oust him. The characterization follows closely that of Bishop Proudie in The Last Chronicle of Barset.
