Mrs. Brumby

In An Editor's Tales, 1870- Originally published in Saint Paul's Magazine, May 1870

Although totally without talent, Mrs. Brumby attempted to bulldoze the Editor into publication of her manuscript. He refused, but she made herself so disagreeable, finally threatening a lawsuit, that he paid her £10 to get rid of her, and made her an apology for the assault that she alleged had been committed by the Editor’s clerk.
