An orphan in Nuremberg, brought up by her aunt Frau Staubach in an atmosphere of repression and false Christianity. To escape a marriage with an old man that was arranged by her aunt, she eloped with a worthless young political agitator, but he was arrested as they stepped from the train and Linda returned home alone. The hated elderly suitor considered her conduct made her unfit to he his wife and repudiated her.
