We are deeply saddened by the death of Timothy West, a much-loved Vice-President of the Trollope Society. Through his outstanding recordings of Anthony Trollope’s novels, Timothy introduced countless listeners to the richness of Trollope’s world. His remarkable talent as a narrator brought Trollope’s characters vividly to life, sparking a deeper appreciation for the author’s literary achievements and welcoming many new readers to his works.

Timothy’s support for the Society was a source of great pride. It was a particular joy to see him at the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the installation of Anthony Trollope’s memorial stone in Poets’ Corner in December 2023, where his warmth and enthusiasm shone through.

Our heartfelt condolences go to his family and loved ones at this difficult time. Timothy’s contributions to literature, and his unique ability to share Trollope’s works with new audiences, will be remembered with gratitude and affection.
