Tudor, Alaric

One of the three clerks, who incurred the enmity of Harry Norman when he married Gertrude Woodward, with whom Harry had long been in love. Starting as a junior clerk in the Weights and Measures, he became a favorite of Sir Gregory Hardlines and rose rapidly to become a Civil Service Commissioner. He was induced by Undy Scott to venture his ward’s fortune in a stockjobbing scheme that faded. He was tried for embezzlement and, after serving a six months’ sentence, emigrated to Australia with his wife and two sons.
