Grantly, Bishop

The gentle Bishop of Barchester, whose son, the Archdeacon, hoped to succeed him. He was a close friend of Mr. Harding, and their oldest children had married. After his death, told with great sympathy in the opening pages of Barchester TowersMr. Proudie became Bishop.
